Fluoride-Free Filter System

Fluoride-Free Filter System

Fluoride Removal System for Town Water (2-Stage Underbench)

A complete system designed to reduce fluoride at your drinking tap, combining pre-filtration with a dedicated fluoride stage for more consistent performance.

Uses calcium-based filtration media, no activated alumina.

This 2-stage system is designed specifically for fluoridated municipal water, combining pre-filtration with targeted fluoride removal.

Unlike many fluoride filters that rely on activated alumina, this system uses a calcium-carbon phosphate media, helping maintain mineral balance while avoiding aluminium-based filtration materials.

Reduced Impurities

Stage 1 — Pre-Filtration. Reduces common upstream contaminants that affect water quality and filter performance:

  • Chlorine
  • Organic chemicals
  • Heavy metals
  • Taste and odour compounds

This stage helps protect the fluoride filter and improves overall system efficiency.

Stage 2 — Fluoride Filtration. Targets specific ions that are more difficult to remove:

  • Fluoride (primary focus)
  • Arsenic (tested under specific conditions)

This stage is designed for targeted removal, rather than broad-spectrum filtration.

Attainable Benefits
  • Improved Water Clarity at the Tap
Reduces chlorine, odours, and other common contaminants that affect taste and smell.
  • Targeted Fluoride Reduction
Designed specifically for fluoridated town water, using a dedicated filtration stage.
  • Consistent Performance Through Staged Filtration

Pre-filtration helps reduce load on the fluoride media, improving stability over time.
  • No Water Waste
Unlike reverse osmosis systems, this system operates at normal flow rates without reject water.
  • Maintains Natural Mineral Presence
Does not strip all dissolved minerals from the water.

(Note: performance varies depending on water quality and usage conditions.)

How It Works

Water passes through two stages:

Stage 1 — Pre-Filtration

Removes chlorine, chemicals, and metals that can interfere with downstream filtration.

Stage 2 — Fluoride Filtration

The FluorEx media uses a calcium-based process to attract and exchange negatively charged ions such as fluoride.

This staged approach:

  • improves efficiency
  • extends filter lifespan
  • supports more stable performance in real household conditions

Designed for treated municipal water supplies

  • Not suitable for microbiologically unsafe water without disinfection
  • High calcium (hard water) may reduce fluoride removal efficiency
  • Flow rate affects performance (~1.8–1.9 L/min recommended)

All materials used are food-grade and suitable for drinking water applications.

Filter Lifespan & Replacement

Fluoride filter lifespan depends on fluoride concentration:

  • ~1900L at 0.7 mg/L
  • ~1140L at 1.2 mg/L
  • ~570L at 2.2 mg/L

Performance gradually declines as the media is used.

We recommend replacing the fluoride cartridge once performance begins to drop to maintain consistent results.

Pre-filtration helps extend the lifespan of this stage.

Replacement filters are available separately.

FluorEx Filter Specifications

Advanced Fluoride Filtration Media

  • Calcium-carbon phosphate based filtration
  • Designed to attract and exchange negatively charged ions such as fluoride
  • Free from activated alumina (aluminium-based media)

Why This Matters

Many fluoride filters use activated alumina, which:

  • relies on aluminium-based adsorption
  • can require stricter operating conditions for optimal performance

This system uses an alternative mineral-based approach designed for practical household use at standard flow rates.

What It Targets

Primary:

  • Fluoride
  • Arsenic (tested under specific conditions)

Secondary (varies):

  • Some heavy metals
  • Some charged contaminants

Performance Notes

Tested using real municipal water at practical flow rates.

  • Fluoride reduction to low levels depending on input concentration
  • Performance varies based on:
    water chemistry
    flow rate
    usage patterns

Installation

To get your system up and running perfectly, we recommend having it installed by a registered plumber. Need help finding a skilled installer? Check out our Dealers and Installers Page and select "installers," or reach out to us with any questions.

The placement of your filtration unit under the bench can be tailored to fit your home's specific setup.

Installation can take anywhere between 1 hr and up. Since every home is unique, we can't provide an exact timeframe.

Have any more questions or need further advice? Please don't hesitate to contact us. We're here to ensure that your installation process is as smooth and customized as possible.

This system comes with all the parts needed for installation, including T-line Diverter valve, 1/4": tubing, John guest connectors. We have also included some pH drops for you to check the pH level of your water. We recommend alkaline water (8-9.5pH) for optimal health

Yes - if you already have pre-filtration, this system can function as a dedicated fluoride stage.

Yes - this is a complete 2-stage system including pre-filtration and fluoride filtration.

Installing our water filtration system is designed to be straightforward, and drilling a hole in your benchtop can be simpler than you think! For common materials like laminate, wood, or stainless steel, most plumbers can easily handle drilling with standard tools. If your benchtop is made of specialized materials, such as stone or glass, we recommend working with a skilled professional to ensure a precise and clean cut. And if you’re in the building or renovation phase, let your installer know the hole size and location in advance—this can make the installation process even easier! We're here to support you every step of the way.

Yes, it can remove both forms of Arsenic (III & V), this data is from our internal research. Chemically speaking, Fluoride is even more difficult to remove than Arsenic and our system removed virtually all of it in independent testing.

A step by step guide to replace your filter under your sink, please refer to the link attached
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUv7kbgBj2Y

To replace the filters under your sink, please follow these steps:

1) Shut off the water supply: Locate the shut-off valve for your water filter system and turn it off to stop the water flow.
2) Release pressure: Open a faucet connected to the system to relieve any pressure inside the filter housing.
3) Remove filter housing: Depending on the type of filter system you have, twist or unscrew the filter housing to remove it from the filter head. Use a filter wrench if needed.
4) Remove old filters: Take out the old filters from the housing and dispose of them properly.
5) Prepare new filters: Remove any protective packaging from the new filters.
6) Install new filters: Insert the new filters into the filter housing, following the recommended order or orientation provided depending on your installed system.
7) Reassemble the housing: Place the filter housing back onto the filter head and secure it by twisting or screwing it tightly. Ensure it is properly aligned and sealed.
8) Turn on the water supply: Turn the water supply back on and check for any leaks. Run water through the system for a few minutes. If you encounter any difficulties or have concerns, it is recommended to consult a professional or reach out to customer support for assistance.
